7 Food that shouldn’t be refrigerated for Good Health!

We all try to protect and preserve the foods to maintain its natural taste but not every food is meant be to be protected through refrigeration. Here are some foods that will be fresh and healthy if it is out of fridge. Keep these at room temperature to maintain its taste, nutrients and essence.

  1. Potatoes:

The starch in potatoes will turn into sugar quickly if it is refrigerated. These are meant to stay in normal temperature to ensure they don’t turn into gritty and sweet potatoes. Even if the potatoes are stored at 45 degree it is good for consumption without causing any harm to the human body.

  1. Onions:

As paper bags are breathable they are preferred over plastic bags for storing onion outside fridge. It is also ideal to store these in dark places such as pantry to maintain its freshness. Instead of using fridge, store these potatoes in paper bags; this will keep the potatoes cool but not cold.

  1. Bread:

Breads will get dried out quickly if it is refrigerated. Also if you are maintaining this out of fridge then it should be consumed within 4 days. Another alternate available to keep breads fresh for longer period is by wrapping the bread completely before placing it into freezer, this will help in retaining the moisture in the bread and take it out of the freezer 3-4 hours before consumption. 

  1. Garlic:

It is not advisable to refrigerate garlic as it will start to sprout. There will a moldy and rubbery effect on the garlic if you are using refrigerated garlic for cooking. Instead, place these garlics in a cool and dark place for retaining its taste and flavoring.

  1. Olive Oil:

Olive oil will turn harder if it refrigerated, instead place in it a cool and dark place in your kitchen. Best place would be to put them in some kitchen drawers which will be closed most of the time. This way there will be enough darkness and the place will be cool ensuring the taste and consistency of olive oil will be intact.

  1. Coffee:

If you don’t want to close your coffee’s flavor, take them out of fridge right away. In fridge coffee will not just lose its flavor but will instead pick the odor of other food substances. The flavor will remain fresh and strong if it stored in a cool place in the kitchen or store room.

  1. Honey:

Just keeping honey tightly sealed is more than sufficient to store it for longer period. There is no necessity to place it in the fridge as it could turn harder and jelly type if the cooling is not appropriate.
